Gucci Mane “I had a bag with some money and got $25,000 out and gave to him right there. Never even heard a song on him … I value Peewee’s opinion so much”
Gucci Mane just did a exclusive interview with XXL for their Fall 2016 cover story issue, and you can catch the interview on YouTube. He speaks in details about the low points he hit in his carer before going to prison, beating his drug addiction, and his story on his brotherhood with Young Thug, who shares the cover with The Trap God.
Interesting enough, while in the interview Gucci reveals he signed Thugger without ever hearing any of his music. Gucci talks about how he meet Thug Through Peewee Longway, who’s and old buddy from his street days. Upon the meet up, Peewee vouched for Thug and the rest is history as we know it.
Something in particular had to sell Gucci on Thug, being that he have such the ear for scouting new artist. “I already had Scooter and I was working with Dolph,” he explains. “I didn’t even really know what I had with Thug, I was just taking a chance. A week later I was like ‘oh, he’s a star.’ Once we did the video, and I seen Thug doing the video, I’m like ‘he a star, he outta here,’ and I started putting more focus on him.”
I must admit, Gucci seems like he ‘s changed for the better.
